About Our Program

About Our Program

Overview

Our volleyball program consists of:

Middle School Level - two teams

7th grade and 8th grade teams

High School Level - two teams

Varsity, and Junior Varsity teams

Our coaches are very passionate about the Lady Lion Volleyball program. Not only do we enjoy motivating and challenging these young ladies physically; we have such an extraordinary opportunity to invest in their lives spiritually.

Program Philosophy

The philosophy of the Lady Lion Volleyball program is one that starts with the belief that God is the center of every decision, every practice, and every game.

Volleyball is a mission field which can bring our competitors closer to Christ, and it should be our joy to glorify God on and off the court.

Volleyball is a privilege that God has allowed us, so we can represent Him with excellence.

Program Objectives

To provide a setting where players will grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ and develop a passion for serving Him and praising Him in all circumstances.

To foster each player’s athletic development and growth in the game of volleyball.

Resilient

“Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day.” [2 Corinthians 4:16 (NIV)]

Strong and Courageous

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” [Psalm 73:26 (ESV)]

Determined and Disciplined

“For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been
trained by it.” [Hebrews 12:11 (ESV)]

Unified

“But as it is, God arranged the members in the body, each one of them, as he chose. If all were a single member, where would the body be? As it is there are many parts,
yet one body.” [1 Corinthians 12:18-20 (ESV)]

We will compete without compromise, but also with graciousness in victory or defeat, so we may reflect the image of Christ to our opponents, the officials, and the fans.

Favorite Scripture

“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever." Psalm 73:26

Coach Schirner joined the CTCS family in 2013 and serves as our head volleyball coach. He spent much of his younger years playing and enjoying many other sports including baseball, soccer, basketball, and cross country.

Volleyball became his main sport when he played Division I Collegiate Club Volleyball for West Point. Ten years later he returned to his Alma Mater to teach engineering and served as the Volleyball Coach for three years. Coach Schirner retired from the United States Army in 2009.

When not on the volleyball court, he enjoys playing golf, encouraging young athletes, and traveling with his family. He and his wife Wilma have a son Joshua and a daughter Sydney who graduated from CTCS in 2017.  Joshua currently attends West Point and Sydney attends Baylor University.
